Free virtual workshops for elementary and secondary schools

Parks Canada is pleased to join the École en réseau in presenting a series of free virtual workshops throughout the school year.

Here are the details of the upcoming presentations. Please take note of the important information at the bottom of the page.

 

A really well-connected national park?

In some areas of the park, animals may encounter certain obstacles.

Parks Canada invites you into the heart of nature conservation in Forillon National Park.

What is ecological connectivity? Why is it so important for animals? And how does it apply to protected areas?

Come and meet Forillon National Park’s specialists, who will be happy to answer these questions.

You’ll discover that animals sometimes need to travel very long distances to survive and that it’s important to help them to do so.

  • Teaching level: Grades 5 and 6
  • Teaching Subjects: Science et technology, Social Sciences
  • Work sessions: March 26, 2024 at 1:15 pm
  • Duration: 30 minutes followed by a 15-minute question period.

The Acadians in Restigouche

Acadians crossed the Atlantic by ship

With Parks Canada, dive you into the ultimate naval battle between France and Great Britain.

Where did the Acadians in the Restigouche area of the Gaspé Peninsula come from? Who are they? And, above all, what did they do in the last naval confrontation between France and Great Britain in July 1760?

Join the experts at the Battle of Restigouche National Historic Site as they answer these questions. You'll be able to learn about the hardships these brave people had to overcome.

You'll discover a resilient people who played a key role in the event that sealed the fate of New France forever!

  • Teaching subject: Social Sciences
  • Work sessions: June 6, 2024, 1:15 pm
  • Duration: 30 minutes followed by a 15-minute question period.

The day before the presentation, you will receive a link to connect to the presentation.

All presentations are recorded, so it is possible to watch them again at another time. To do so, you must register for the presentation. A viewing link will then be sent to you by email.
